One of the greatest parts of my job is that I get to spend hours a day talking to some of the smartest women in St Louis. I always say that hanging out with all of you all the time provides me the “communal knowledge of women.” So I regularly discuss challenges with raising kids, health, diet and more with all of you and soak up what you have to provide to me. The last few years I’ve had serious challenges with weight, fatigue and hormones (probably like most of you reading this right now). I have a great story to share with you about a simple mineral that is really changing my health.
One of my awesome friends (and a client too) and I were discussing some of the weight/hormone issues that I’ve been struggling with and she suggested adding Magnesium to my vitamin regimen. She’s an expert in childhood obesity and definitely knows what she’s talking about so off to the health food store I went to get some amazing Magnesium. Well it turns out that my digestive system couldn’t handle much oral Magnesium so it didn’t take long (literally days) till I quit using it.
Fast forward a few months and I’m talking to a client who is a Physical Therapist discussing how achy my back is due to leaning over all of you beautiful people all day. She recommends putting Magnesium Oil on my back to relieve the discomfort. I was also having issues with the beginnings of Plantar Fasciitis in one of my feet so I used the oil on both areas. Magically within less than a week the pain in both areas subsided and within a couple of weeks the pain was completely gone but something else mysterious was happening… my weight suddenly started to drop. I hadn’t changed any other part of my diet/exercise/supplement routine so it HAD to be the Magnesium. But being a skeptic, off to Google I went to investigate further. I quickly downloaded “The Magnesium Miracle” to my Kindle and my education began.
It turns out that most of us are Magnesium deficient and it is a huge problem. In fact, Magnesium deficiency causes the following conditions:

Ummm, WOW! As I read through several chapters of the book my mind was blown. Who knew such a simple element could make such a difference in our bodies. Personally it has helped me:
- Lessen my seasonal allergies
- End my hormone related Ocular Migraines
- Reduce my weight
- Eliminate body pain and Plantar Fasciitis
- Improve my ability to sleep
- Allowed me to eat foods that used to give me digestive issues
It’s been so fantastic that even though it’s not really a part of what I do at work I felt it was important to get the word out to you all. In regards to dosage, I recommend you do your own homework on what your body needs. There’s great information in the book “The Magnesium Miracle” about that. I take a little orally and have been trying to eat foods rich in Magnesium but I get the majority of my dose transdermally (through my skin) using Magnesium Oil. It’s a simple process of putting the oil on my body, leaving it on for 20-30 minutes and then washing it off. You can find high quality Magnesium Oil online or at Whole Foods/Health Food stores. It requires a little effort but has been well worth the time, I’m feeling truly amazing these days because of it! I hope it’s something that helps you all as well.
